I made an amazing discovery last night…Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, did not die on the bathroom floor after all.

He did in fact live to a ripe old age, spending his remaining days as an elderly resident of an East Texas nursing home.

Not only that, but he became a superhero of sorts, fighting the forces of evil with his co-resident, John F. Kennedy. If you feel this sounds strange, but oddly funny, then you’re in the right mindset for Bubba Ho-Tep.

The film, not exactly a comedy, not exactly a B-horror flick, wrapped up a four night stint at the Bytowne Cinema Tuesday night. If the wildly cheering audience was any indication, it was a hit.

The evening was kicked off by Lee Demarbre, host of CKCU-FM’s Drunken Master Review, who called on the crowd to “Be Loud!!!”
This may be an unusual request in the quiet environment of modern movie houses, but when it comes to Bruce Campbell films, anything goes. The cult film icon has been drawing a rowdy crowd for years (Remember The Evil Dead?) and this group of self-proclaimed film geeks was no exception.

Directed by Don Coscarelli (Phantasm, Beastmaster), the film is one of the most imaginative stories to hit the screen in ages.
